Glass Brothers were established in 1963 by Wilson and Ivan Glass. The business started growing Bramley apples for sale on the local fresh markets then extended to UK markets before starting to can Bramley apples. This was the main role of the business in the 70’s and 80’s then with a change in the manufacturing industry came a change to fresh chilled production in the 90’s.
In 1998 a purpose built facility was used for fresh chilled production supplying the major dessert manufacturers with fresh chilled Bramley apple products.
There has also been a similar emphasis on the orchard management side of the business with replanting of orchards in 2008, 2014 and 2018. The orchards are overseen by a qualified agronomist with FACTS and BASIS qualifications ensuring the correct products, timings are used in our spray programmes to yield the best quality fruit for storage and processing throughout the year.
Our storage facilities have also been upgraded in phases during 2011, 2014 and 2017 to ensure fruit is stored in ULO (Ultra Low Oxygen) conditions to ensure high quality apples for processing year round.
